Vale of Rheidol Railway - 1970s and 80s - … British Railways operated a day excursion from Liverpool to Aberystwyth which included the opportunity to travel on the Vale of Rheidol Railway on June 26, 1977. This provided me the first opportunity to visit the railway. During the 1970s the stock was painted in BR rail blue.
