Characterization of Rhizobium spp. in Bangladesh PDF

B. M. Mahmudul Hasan

The genus Rhizobium play a important role in agriculture by inducing nitrogen-fixing nodules on the roots of legumes such as peas, beans, clover and alfalfa. The main aim of this research work was to observe the comparative growth characteristics of recently isolated Rhizobium spp. The strains such as BARI RLC-107, BARI RCA-220, BARI RVM-307, were collected from Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BARI). Three Rhizobium strains nutritional uptake is same, but the growth rate of BARI RLC-107 is higher than other two strain. These strains are able to grow in different environmental and nutritional conditions such as pH ranging from 7 to 8, temperatures ranging from 10 0C to 40 0C, and peptone, glucose, sugar, glycerol can be used as their sole sources of carbon. The findings of this study will help us to have a better understanding about these strains and it also may help the scientist to conduct various experiments related to the improvement of soil quality and soil fertility.

characteristics are presented in Table 1 while tests of the bacterium are presented in Table 2, 3 respectively. Isolated bacterial strain was identified by both morphological and biochemical tests and this was further confirmed by 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. The strain showed 96% (ID KF008235.1) homology with Rhizobium sp.

19.02.2020 · In present study, we have mined a transaminase (TA) from Rhizobium sp. from the pool of fully sequenced genomes by using an ω-TA sequence from Vibrio fluvialis JS17 as a template in a BLASTP search. The protein sequence of the TA from Rhizobium sp. exhibits 53% sequence identity to that from V. fluvialis. The TA with S-selectivity showed close evolutionary relationship with a pyruvate

Rhizobium is a genus of Gram-negative soil bacteria that fix nitrogen. Rhizobium species form an endosymbiotic nitrogen-fixing association with roots of legumes and Parasponia . The bacteria colonize plant cells within root nodules , where they convert atmospheric nitrogen into ammonia using the enzyme nitrogenase and then provide organic nitrogenous compounds such as glutamine or ureides to the plant.
